Datto RMM: Kaseya One Integration

Today, we’re taking a look at a new feature within Datto RMM. The integration between KaseyaOne and Datto RMM

Step By Step:

  1. Today, we’ll be reviewing the integration between CA 1 and Dat RMM, starting with version 12.8. You can access this integration in the Setup > Integrations section within Dat RMM.
  2. To enable the integration, you must have an administrator security level in Dat RMM. Simply having “Manage” permissions for Setup > Integrations will not be sufficient because this integration affects user logon functionality.
  3. The next step is to enable unified logon with CA 1. Once enabled, you’ll have several configuration options, including the Require logon with CA 1 setting.
  4. When you enable Require logon with CA 1, it will prevent users from logging in via the Datto Partner Portal and only allow authentication via CA 1.
  5. You can configure user exceptions for accounts that don’t need to authenticate through CA 1. This is especially useful for IT service accounts or other specific accounts that should not be restricted to CA 1 login.
  6. Once unified logon is enabled, you can also enable automatic user creation. This means that users who are granted access to Dat RMM through CA 1 will have their accounts automatically created when they log in for the first time.
  7. It’s recommended to set a default security level for these automatically created accounts. For example, you might choose Tier 1 Help Desk as the default security level for new users.
  8. To use automatic user creation, you must select a default security level. Without this, the system won’t know what permissions or access levels to assign to newly created users.
  9. Starting with version 12.9, Dat RMM introduces role-based access control (RBAC). This feature allows you to sync Dat RMM security levels with CA 1 groups.
  10. In CA 1, go to Admin Settings > Groups to create and manage user groups. When creating a new group, assign users to the group and choose the Dat RMM module to give those users access to Dat RMM.
  11. The next feature planned for the integration is Deep Provisioning. This will automatically deactivate Dat RMM users when their corresponding CA 1 account is deactivated or deleted.
  12. Once these configurations are complete, the integration between CA 1 and Dat RMM will be fully set up and functional.

When our NOC Manager left last fall we wanted to replace the position with an outsourced NOC to reduce headcount, and bring in an expert to both Labtech and our backup solutions. Bringing in ProVal Technologies was one of the best decisions we made last year and has paid for itself.During our first few monthly recurring Labtech admin meetings the ProVal team discovered incorrect settings and policies that were not applying correctly in our Labtech server.
