Let’s go over how to set up a Remote Access Policy in ConnectWise RMM so you can remote into desktops/servers.
Step by Step:
- I would like to show you how to create a remote access policy. If you are new to ConnectWise RMM it is setting this up for the first time or if you are just now onboarding a new client and can’t figure out why you can’t remote into those machines this video should help you resolve that.
- To start we want to navigate to the settings à policies. For this example, we’re going to go ahead and pretend that we have nothing set up so we’re going to start from scratch.
- So, from this window go ahead and select the add policy.
- From here you want to leave the category to the type, you want to hit that drop down and select remote access.
- We’re going to give this policy a name (test remote access) and then to our right is what determines what we can remote into.
- So from here you just have to make your selection if you want to only allow remote access for desktops and not servers or vice versa. For here we’re just going to select all of them (hit all these sliders here).
- Then select save.
- Once the policy is saved we want to navigate to packages.
- So just go to settings à packages.
- Ideally you want to have one package that has all your policies but for this one we’re just going to pretend that we have nothing set up so we’re going to go to add a package.
- We’re going to name this new package so (test package) and then to our right once we hit this drop down it’s going to show all the available policies that we can assign to this package.
- So we’re going to go ahead and just drag and drop the one that we created so test remote access over to this side.
- Ideally you want to have all your policies under one package so just go ahead and hit save.
- Once the package is saved we want to go to the sites.
- From here we want to select the sites that we want to deploy our package. If you have more than one go ahead and select all of them by clicking on here.
- For here we’re just going to go and select just the one that we have available to us.
- Then we’re going to select assign package.
- We’re going to look for the package that we have created so ‘test package’ and then we’re going to select assign.
- We currently already have this configured in our environment so I’m not going to go ahead and override what we already have.
- From there it will be deployed to all those machines at that site.
- That is how you would create and assign a policy for remote access.
