What Are the Key AI Trends MSP Leaders Can’t Afford to Ignore?

Every day, I work with MSPs that are trying to modernize their operations, reduce inefficiencies, and scale smart. If you’re leading an MSP right now, you already know how fast things are changing, and artificial intelligence (AI) is driving a lot of that change.

In plain terms, AI isn’t just hype; it’s delivering tangible benefits for MSPs that embrace it. In fact, 90% of MSPs now say AI is important to their growth strategy, and about 73% are encouraging their teams to use AI tools, resulting in an average 40% boost in productivity.

AI isn’t just another buzzword, it’s reshaping how MSPs deliver support, manage their infrastructure, and make tactical decisions. Here are the AI trends that every MSP leader should be paying close attention to.

1. Proactive Problem Solving with Predictive Analytics

A huge pain point I see in MSPs is constantly reacting instead of anticipating. In a perfect world, MSPs could fix problems before clients are even aware there is something wrong. That’s possible with predictive analytics (powered by AI).

AI-driven tools, when integrated with your RMM or PSA, can churn out 24×7 performance data, learn what the status quo looks like, and notify you as soon as something’s off. So you can act swiftly before a larger problem arises.

A recent survey found 66.7% of MSPs use AI for real-time monitoring of client systems (often tied to predictive analytics) and those MSPs report up to a 20% increase in operational efficiency.

This shift in service from reactive to proactive doesn’t just add value. It improves uptime. Lowers ticket volume. Your clients will think you have a crystal ball and will see that foresight as a huge differentiator.

2. Smart Alert Triage & Remediation with AI

Alert fatigue is real. Too many MSPs are drowning in an ocean of notifications, many of which don’t actually require a technician to resolve.

With AI-powered triage, it’s like having a robot first responder to differentiate noise from real issues, prioritize critical alerts, and dispatch automatic fixes for predictable problems like restarting or cleaning up disk space. With fewer escalated tickets and faster resolution times, your team can do more in the same amount of time, without the burnout.

In one case study, an MSP implemented an AI “sidekick” with their ConnectWise PSA and cut average ticket resolution time from 4.2 hours down to 2.3 hours. That’s 45%!

With real time (and money) saved, techs can reclaim those hours to focus on high-value projects.

3. Develop Documentation and SOPs

Let’s face it – documentation is tedious and often takes a back seat in a busy MSP environment. But we all know that it’s foundational to consistent workflows and scaling.

AI tools can now help generate documentation in real-time – with detailed SOPs written while simultaneously performing complex troubleshooting sequences.

For example, Kaseya’s IT Glue recently launched a “Smart SOP Generator.” Clicks, keystrokes, and actions taken by a tech can be automatically captured and developed into a seamless step-by-step procedure, with no errors and no manual writing required.

This is huge for MSPs of any size that look to scale. No more bottlenecks from tribal knowledge, because you can keep your knowledge base up to date with minimal effort, as well as reducing human error. And then you can deliver detailed reports to clients of exactly what you did, without any additional labor involved. Impressive.

4. Fight (Cybersecurity) Fire with Fire, Powered by AI

Cyber threats are evolving fast, and if the attackers are wielding artificial intelligence as a weapon, then so should you. With AI, you can detect threats swiftly, reduce erroneous alerts, and respond to issues automatically before any damage is done.

Take this example: CrowdStrike’s “Charlotte AI” triages threat detections with above 98% accuracy. That means it reliably differentiates real threats from noise. By closing out low-risk and false alerts, it saved SOC teams 40+ hours per week on average.

That’s the equivalent of an employee’s full weeks’ worth of work.

When it comes to cybersecurity, AI has quickly become a must-have instead of a nice-to-have.

I truly view ProVal as a partner and extension of my team, not as one of my vendors

When our NOC Manager left last fall we wanted to replace the position with an outsourced NOC to reduce headcount, and bring in an expert to both Labtech and our backup solutions. Bringing in ProVal Technologies was one of the best decisions we made last year and has paid for itself.During our first few monthly recurring Labtech admin meetings the ProVal team discovered incorrect settings and policies that were not applying correctly in our Labtech server. Things that we thought were automated and working were not. For example, there were multiple scripts and policies running but set to do nothing such as disk cleanup scripts. Cisco Umbrella was not configured correctly. Server alerting was not set right and the list went on.The backup team sends daily and weekly reports and updates that reduce my technicians time that we used to spend on backup or antivirus tickets that took forever and were tedious.ProVal also brings in great insights to our business and really cares about our success. They will frequently mention to me in meetings what new scripts they can import to make us more efficient or will schedule upgrades to our backups, Labtech, etc so I don’t have to worry. I truly view ProVal as a partner and extension of my team not as one of my vendors.

They will quickly become an extension of your team and your ROI will reflect the results

We have been a long time user of Labtech and had tried for many years to manage the product internally with no real success at the level we needed to make our solutions more efficient for our customers. Once we hired Vikram and his team at ProVal, it solved all our pain points with the product and we really felt like we were leveraging the tool as it was designed. If this sounds like you and it’s keeping you up at night, then you need these guys. They will quickly become an extension of your team and your ROI will reflect the results.

They work well, fast and on budget

We met Vikram from ProVal Tech at Gary Pica’s Shnizzfest a year ago. Vikram explained the advantage of having trained, certified personnel take care of our recent Automate implementation. Even though we had taken an implementation package from ConnectWise to start up the program, we felt many custom configurations we needed for our business were lacking. We hired ProVal Tech after Automate was installed to help us with this task. From sales to technicians everyone was professional and knowledgeable. Onboarding was simple, and well documented. Tools on the web were supplied while we did the work, and they allowed us to track what was done, and see the improvements in the environment. It was easy to reach any of the team members, for any concern or question – all answered with courtesy and smile. Once the work was finished, we were given some training and explanations, add to that documentation, about the work and the scripts and features added to the program. We have been happily working with Automate since then. We can only recommend this efficient team of people for any work into Automate: they work well, fast and on budget.
