LabTech recently released a new Virtualization Manager Plugin, allowing LabTech to monitor ESXi 6.0 and Hyper-V Hosts. Configuring the plugin allows you to provide additional monitoring for your clients by being able to monitor the hardware of the hosts. This is especially important for ESXi, as you cannot install an agent on the host. To get the plugin, connect to the LabTech Solution Center from your LabTech Server. Along with the plugin, there are additional requirements for the monitoring to work.
Requirements:
Network Probe configured on each location containing VM Hosts
VM Host Admin Credentials configured on each location or client

Start by configuring probes on the locations with VM Hosts you would like to monitor. The probes only need to scan the network. Next, you will need to configure or ensure that passwords for connecting to the VM Hosts are configured on each location or client (If you don’t have global credentials configured). Within the Virtualization Manager, click on Global Settings on the top left of the screen. From there, you can configure either global credentials or local credentials within each client or location.

While still in the Global Settings window, click on Monitor Configuration. Here, you can select the alert template for each monitor. By default, all monitors have their alert templates set to Default – Do Nothing. This is to reduce noise and allow you to turn on only the monitors you wish to receive alerts for. Further, you can click the gear icon to the left of each monitor to adjust the individual monitor thresholds and configuration. Both Host Monitors and Virtual Machine Monitors are available to you.

By following these steps and configuring the Virtualization Manager Plugin in LabTech, you will be able to monitor your clients VM Host Hardware and provide additional value and reduced downtime.
