Last week ProVal had the opportunity to attend Automation Nation 2024 at ConnectWise headquarters in Tampa, Florida. Our CEO Vikram Khanna and Sr. Consultant Chase Murphy attended all available sessions so they could bring the knowledge back to the ProVal Tech team and then out to our partners. We would like to thank ConnectWise for bringing back Automation nation and we’re looking forward to attending more sessions throughout the year.
Here are Five Key Takeaways from Automation Nation 2024
- ConnectWise’s Automation Nation is not only once a year! Automation Nation will be held quarterly. There will be more opportunities to train teams than just once per year at the conference. The conference was also split into two separate groups, a Monday/Tuesday and a Thursday/Friday group. With such flexible scheduling more MSPs should be able to send their resources for additional education. Automation Nation should help MSPs stay ahead of the curve on new products and features.
- Holding the conference itself is a key takeaway – that ConnectWise is committed to helping the MSP community utilize the tools they have invested in. Going to a technical show like Automation Nation should help tool administrators, service directors, and even owners better understand the capabilities of the product. There were several sessions with open discourse related to lessons learned and new things MSPs could be doing with the tools provided by ConnectWise. There were top notch labs to help train technical resources in how to use features of the product.
- ConnectWise Asio’s Workflow engine (In ConnectWise RMM) looks to be the future of Automation in this already open ecosystem. The Asio workflow engine will allow administrators to further “code” processes to ensure they are reliable and repeatable with minimal human interaction required. If you haven’t checked out the Asio workflows yet, this video from ConnectWise may help illuminate some of the capabilities of the product.
- Hyperautomation is the future for ConnectWise. Linking more and more systems together to automate processes, reduce human workload, and improve standardization. These systems are all made to interconnect in Asio allowing for a much larger “data lake” to pull data from. This should help businesses analyze their information more effectively so they can make better decisions based on their data. However, hyperautomation is still in its infancy and will take time, dedication, and determination to move forward. The age-old adage of “you can lead a horse to water but cannot make them drink” comes to mind. The tools are strong and integrate well, but someone still needs to be responsible for these integrations and automation. ConnectWise provides the tools and educational resources required to make the best of these tools, but someone still must have their hands on the wheel.
- ConnectWise Automate is not going anywhere. Not only is there a large and passionate community behind ConnectWise Automate that ConnectWise values, but there are also technical limitations that will keep the product viable. An example of this is some compliance-based MSPs must have on-premises servers to meet their compliances. ConnectWise RMM does not have an on-premises option whereas ConnectWise Automate does.
